Beauty Disorder
My project ‘Beauty Disorder’ is a caricature and critique of the beauty canons imposed in Western society that oppress women and hypersexualise them.
Beauty canons do not only refer to aesthetic appearance, but also to a certain way of behaving (the way one looks, walks, postures and talks) that is assumed to conform to certain expectations.
Society has driven women to obsessively pursue perfection by following impossible canons of beauty, which leads them to eternal dissatisfaction with themselves, to the creation of eating disorders and dysmorphia, and to spending a lot of money, energy and tears on constantly modifying or beautifying their bodies.
Therefore adding different levels of modifications to the point of bordering on the ridiculous, so that they no longer look like themselves, but someone else's monstrous creation.
